Pange and Matini were two women who lived all their lives in a secluded area of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) belonging to the primitive Kalanga tribe, and had never interacted in any significant way with people outside of the tribe. In 1961 there was a drought in the area, which posed the threat of starvation to the entire tribe. While talking to a local witch doctor, the women expressed their fears to him, and he promised to prepare some muti, a magic potion, to mix with seeds during planting so that crops would be plentiful. It was a custom among the Kalanga people to prepare such a potion during the times of drought, consisting of several ingredients collected by witch doctors plus the fingers, toes, and inside portion of the stomach of a tribe member who is killed, usually a relative of the person who requests the potion. The witch doctor told Pange and Martini they must kill a child. Neither woman had children, however, they killed Martinis two year old cousin, and brought her body to the witch doctor. The colonial authorities of Rhodesia (Rhodesia was a British colony) learned of the killing and brought murder charges against Pange and Matini. The two women were put on trial in a Rhodesian court.

What would the Ethical Relativist argue in regards to the two women killing the infant?

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Ethical relativism would argue that women did not commit a crime, as their act in killing the child was a cultural and justified thing in the society where they live.

Explanation:

Ethical relativism allows individuals to be judged according to their cultures, values and social classes. In this way, ethical relativism prevents a person from being judged by the ethical values of another person who has a different culture, as he believes that the ethical values of each individual are related to the culture and social context in which each individual lives.

In this case, the ritual of killing a family member to make a potion to help seed germination is cultural in the society of the two women shown in the question above. Although this is a shocking attitude, for us, ethical relativism states that we should not judge them as murderers, as they are acting in accordance with the ethical values of society itself.

What is erosion?

washing away of the fertilizer
washing away of the stones and rocks
washing away of the crops
washing away of the soil

Answers

Answer:

Washing away of the soil

Explanation:

The farmers of the Midwest realize that the good soil is a precious natural resource. Where the land is more hilly, farmers plow following the curve of the hill instead of up and down. If the rows of crops went up and down the hill, rain would wash quickly along the furrows. Soil, and perhaps the crop itself, would be washed away. Washing away of soil is called erosion. If the rows of crops go around the hill, the water is stopped by each row and soaks into the soil.

What could a government do to increase the demand for wind-generated electricity?

Answers

Answer:

The easiest way for the government to increase demand for wind-generated electricity is to subsidize this type of energy.

Explanation:

The subsidy would be either given to firms so that they can lower the price, or to consumers, so that they can use the subsidy to purchase the wind electricity at the market price. In either case, the subsidy would lower the price of wind-generated electricity for consumers, increasing demand accordingly.

This subsidy would be justified because wind-generated electricity represents a positive externality that is not always accounted for in the market price (hence why it is an externality), and the positive externality is that wind-generated electricity is a clean source of energy that does not contribute to climate change, and that does not cause any air pollution.

examine the population density of nepal by ecological regions

Answers

Answer:

The answer is below

Explanation:

As of 2011, the population density of Nepal can be divided into three, Ecological zones which are mainly are mountain region, hilly region, and Terai region.

Between 1991, 2001, and 2011, using 10 years intervals, the Mountain region has a population density of 28, 33, and 34 respectively.

The Hilly region on the other hand has 137,167, and 186 respectively between 1991, 2001, 2011.

At the same time, the Terai region has between these three major years a population density of 254, 330, 392 respectively.

This implies that there has been an increase in population density of each region, even though some are more than the others particularly due to the terrain of each region.

Answers

Answer: It is not.

Explanation:

Generally a statement is merely a sentence of fact. It is either true or false and does not attempt to convince the reader of its validity by giving the listener/ reader reasons why they should believe the statement is valid. This is the case in the above scenario. The statement is merely saying what happened as it happened.

When a statement or group of statement attempt to convince by giving reasons however, this becomes and argument and seeing as this is not the case here, this is not an argument.

And pls show work Civil DisobediencePart 1Most people remember Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as reformers who practiced non-violent forms of protest and advocacy. Both effectively changed the popular opinion about emotional issues for their countries and brought in a wave of change that was long overdue. But the practice of non-violent protest, or civil disobedience, started long before either Gandhi or King. It began with a quiet, shy poet who is best known for writing a lot about a pond.Henry David Thoreau lived from 1817 until 1862, mainly in the area of Concord, Massachusetts. The issue that would tear the country apart in the 1860s had already begun dividing the nation. Thoreau was only 14 when Nat Turner led the slave rebellion in Virginia and was later hanged. In his late 20s, Thoreau began speaking against slavery in public, echoing the voices of freedmen like Frederick Douglass and Lewis Hayden.Thoreau believed that a government that supported slavery was corrupt and immoral. He was also deeply suspicious of government. For these and other reasons, Thoreau refused to pay his poll tax for a number of years. The poll tax was a legal tax owed by every person. It was basically a tax on one's body. After not paying for years, he was at last arrested. He spent only one night in jail, however, as a relative paid the tax for him. He was reportedly furious that any tax was paid on his behalf. It was this experience that Thoreau wrote about in an essay called "Civil Disobedience." In this essay, he argued that being moral and just came before allegiance to government. He wrote "If the machine of government is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law." He also felt that voting was not enough to ensure that the right thing be done. He wrote that "even voting for the right is doing nothing for it A wise man will not leave the right to the mercy of chance" He felt that one had a moral responsibility to resist unjust laws. What is the main idea of the bolded paragraph?
