Pike and his party faced many hardships: hostile tribes, bewildering canyons, sub-zero temperatures, and near-starvation. Looking to get their bearings in Colorado, they attempted, unsuccessfully, to summit the mountain now known as Pike's Peak.
What would you have done to survive in the Donner Party?Only answer if you're very good at History. Please don't put a link to a website.
Answer:
Explanation:
I would have started by trying to bring a Native American guide along. It seems the Donner party wasn't very fluent in Native American customs, and before venturing into the west without an experienced guide. Sometimes having the right people on your team makes an effort easier.
Their fate was pretty much sealed by Jim Bridger, who hid letters from Edwin Bryant that advised against traveling on Hasting's Pass with wagons. At some point, before winter, I would have made a makeshift shelter for the women and children, and left a few men to guard them. I would have sent the rest of the men forward to explore the rest of the pass or find more help, fresh horses/oxen and more wagons to carry their belongings.
By stopping somewhere before winter, they could have taken advantage of any wild-grown food from the late summer and fall harvest seasons. When food got very scarce, I would have starved myself so my children would eat. I would like to say we would never have resorted to cannibalism. But desperation to keep children alive puts people's ethics at risk of being compromised. And for some, desperation to stay alive themselves makes them put their ethics aside.
I hope this gives you some ideas for your answer.

Shedding Light on a Dark Day, by Robin Meriwether
On May 19, 1780, the skies over New England turned dark in the middle of the day. For more than two hundred years, New England's Dark Day had been shrouded in mystery. Some blamed volcanoes. Some suggested supernatural events. Some claimed it was a sign from the heavens. No one knew for certain what happened. Many thought the mystery would never be solved.
Researchers at the University of Missouri were fascinated by the case. They began examining trees in all surrounding areas. Fire damage in a Canadian forest finally revealed the truth. Scientists looked at burned tree rings and discovered that huge wildfires once raged in the mountains near Ontario. The savage flames created blankets of black smoke. The smoke traveled high into the atmosphere, darkening the New England skies hundreds of miles away.

The height of a water balloon that is launched into the air is given by h(t) = -5t2 + 40t + 2. From what height was the balloon released? a) 2 meters (b) 5 meters O c) 40 meters d) 20 meters
Answer:
a.
2 meters
Explanation:
The equation: h(t) = -5t2 + 40t + 2. is the position or height equation. It is the equation of a parabola. Since the leading coefficient -16 is negative, we have a parabola that has a maximum (a vertex is the highest point).
The easiest way to find the maximum height is to find the vertex since the y-value of the vertex is the maximum height. When the equation is in the form Ax2 + Bx + C = 0, the vertex is (-B/(2A), h(-B/(2A))).
-B/(2A) = -32/(2*-16) = -32/-32 = 1
h(1) = -16(1)2 + 32(1) + 48 = 2 feet

Statements- They provided food in exchange for protection.

Their position in society was inherited by birth, are true for Serfs living in Medieval times.
Serfs played a crucial role in the feudal system in the Middle Ages. They were peasants who worked on land that belonged to a noble or their lord. In exchange for protection and the ability to work on the land one of the main duties of serfs was to provide food and agricultural products to their lord.
The land and its resources belonged to the lord, not the serfs who had no personal property of their own. Birth determined their social standing because serfdom was typically passed down through families. Serfs were confined to their master's manor, bound to the land and required permission to leave. They were constrained to their lord's estate under this system which reduced their personal freedom and mobility.
