Which function is the inverse of f(x)=1/2x+5?

Answers

Answer 1
To find the inverse, switch the places of x and y. Then put it in terms of y. (Note: f(x) = y)
x=1/2y+5
1/2y = x-5
y = 2x - 10

Therefore, the inverse of f(x) = 2x - 10.

A rectangular bedroom has an area of 117 ft. the length of the bedroom is 4ft more than the width. find the length and the width of the bedroom

Answers

Answer: Length = 13 ft. , Width = 9 ft.

Step-by-step explanation:

Rectangle area = Length x width

Area = 117 ft.

Length = x + 4

Width = x

To solve

(x)(x + 4) = 117

x^2 + 4x = 117

x^2 + 4x - 117 = 0

(x - 9)(x + 13)

x = 9, -13

x = 9 (measurement cannot be negative)

Length

x + 4

9 + 4 = 13

The equation for the line of best fit for this situation is shown below.

Based on the line of best fit, complete the given statements.

The expected number of hot dogs sold when the temperature is 50° would be
hot dogs.

If the vendor sold 35 hot dogs, the temperature is expected to be
degrees.

Based on the line of best fit, for every 10-degree increase in temperature, she should sell

Answers

The expected number of hot dogs sold when the temperature is 50° would be 23 hot dogs, If the vendor sold 35 hot dogs, the temperature is expected to be 90 degrees.

Based on the line of best fit, for every 10-degree increase in temperature, she should sell 3 more hot dogs.

What is the line of best fit?

A mathematical notion called the line of the best fit connects points spread throughout a graph. It's a type of linear regression that uses scatter data to figure out the best way to define the dots' relationship.

[tex]\rm m = \dfrac{n\sum xy-\sum x \sum y}{n\sum x^2 - (\sum x)^2}[/tex]

[tex]\rm c = \dfrac{\sum y -m \sum x}{n}[/tex]

The question is incomplete.

The complete question is:

A hot dog vendor at the zoo recorded the average temperature in degrees, x, and the average number of hot dogs she sold, y.

The equation for the line of best fit for this situation is shown below.

[tex]\rm y=\dfrac{3}{10}x+8[/tex]

Based on the line of best fit, complete the given statements.

The expected number of hot dogs sold when the temperature is 50° would be___hot dogs.If the vendor sold 35 hot dogs, the temperature is expected to be ___degrees.Based on the line of best fit, for every 10-degree increase in temperature, she should sell____more hot dogs.

We have a line of best fits:

[tex]\rm y=\dfrac{3}{10}x+8[/tex]

Plug x = 50 in the line of best fit.

y = (3/10)50 + 8

y = 15+8

y = 23

Plug y = 35

35 = (3/10)x + 8

27 = (3/10)x

x = 90 degree

Based on the line of best fit, for every 10-degree increase in temperature, she should sell 3 more hot dogs.

Thus, the expected number of hot dogs sold when the temperature is 50° would be 23 hot dogs, If the vendor sold 35 hot dogs, the temperature is expected to be 90 degrees, and based on the line of best fit, for every 10-degree increase in temperature, she should sell 3 more hot dogs.

3.2

3.4

3.6

3.8

Picture posted below

Answers

The best approximation for the median is 3.6.

An illustration of a numerical distribution with continuous results is a density curve. A density curve is, in other words, the graph of a continuous distribution. This implies that density curves can represent continuous quantities like time and weight rather than discrete events like rolling a die (which would be discrete). As seen by the bell-shaped "normal distribution," density curves either lie above or on a horizontal line (one of the most common density curves).

For the given density curve, the area under the density curve is

A=(1/2)×5×(1/2)=5/4

now, for the median, the area on the left and the area on the right of the median.

Let the median be x, then

The area criteria we get

(1/2)x(x/10)=(5/4)/2

⇒x²=5*20/4=25/2

So, we get x=5/([tex]\sqrt2[/tex])=3.5 ≈ 3.6

Hence the required answer is option 3.6

A cooler contains five colas, seven root beers, and four ginger ales. Three people grab a drink at random, one at a time. a) What is the probability that the first person grabs a cola, the second person grabs a ginger ale, and the third person grabs b) What is the probability that the third person grabs a root beer given that the first two grabbed colas?

Answers

The probabilities are:

a) P = 0.024

b) P = 0.5

How to get the probabilities?

a) The probability that the first person grabs a cola is given by the quotient between the number of colas and the total number of drinks.

There are 5 colas, and 16 drinks in total, so the probability is:

P = 5/16

The second person needs to grab a ginger ale, now there are 15 drinks on the cooler (because one cola was taken) so this time the probability is:

Q = 4/15

Finally, the third person grabs (this is incomplete, I will assume that is another cola), this probability is:

Z = 4/14

The joint probability is:

prob = P*Q*Z = (5/16)*(4/15)*(4/14) = 0.024

b) If the two first persons grabed colas, then in the cooler we have:

3 colas, 7 root beers, and 4 ginger ales, for a total of 14 drinks.

Then the probability of grabbing a root beer is:

p = 7/14 = 1/2 = 0.5

Answers

Answer:

404 cm³ Anyway... Look down here for my explanation.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's Draw a line from the center of the circle to one of the ends of the chord (water surface) and another to the point at greatest depth on your paper. A right-angled triangle is formed too. The Length of side to the water-surface is 5 cm, the hospot is 7 cm.

We Calculate the angle θ in the corner of the right-angled triangle by: cos θ = 5/7 ⇒ θ = cos ˉ¹ (5/7)

44.4°, so the angle subtended at the center of the circle by the water surface is roughly 88.8°

The area shaded will then be the area of the sector minus the area of the triangle above the water in your diagram.

Shaded area 88.8/360*area of circle - ½*7*788.8°

= 88.8/360*π*7² - 24.5*sin 88.8°

13.5 cm²

(using area of ∆ = ½.a.b.sin C for the triangle)

Volume of water = cross-sectional area * length

13.5 * 30 cm³

404 cm³

"What are you doing this afternoon? I was thinking about catching a movie, if you're interested." "Thanks, but I've got big plans today," Pasha replied with a huge smile. "Today is the day." "Huh? Today is what day?" asked Samus with a confused look. "THE day, silly," answered Pasha. "I finally saved enough money to enroll in the beginner's class at the Motorcycle Safety Association. I'm headed there now, as a matter of fact." Samus stared at his friend in disbelief. "Wait a minute," he said as he stopped in his tracks. "You actually enrolled in the motorcycle riding class? I never thought you'd do it. I thought it was just another project you act excited about and then drop in two weeks." "Don't be silly," replied Pasha. "This isn't like the time I wanted to volunteer as a clown for the children's center or start my own dog walking business. I'm serious about learning to ride motorcycles. Once I get my first bike, I'll travel all over the world just like my hero, Lois Pryce." "Isn't she the woman who rode her motorcycle from Alaska to South America?" Samus asked as they continued walking toward the dark grey MSA building. "Yes, that's her," said Pasha. "I got to meet her last year when she gave a speech at the History of the Americas museum. She talked about following your dreams, and that's exactly what I intend to do." A loud roaring sound filled the air as Pasha and Samus entered the Motorcycle Safety Association. They stood in the lobby and looked out at an indoor gym filled with people of all ages on motorcycles. Pasha felt a brief rush of insecurity as she watched the riders maneuver their way through an obstacle course of traffic cones and speed bumps. "This looks intense!" Samus remarked. "Do you think they'll let me stay and watch?" Pasha was about to answer when a tall woman dressed in a MSA t-shirt tapped her on the shoulder. "You must be our newest student," the woman said as she handed Pasha a motorcycle helmet. "I'm Dervla, your instructor. I'll take you to your practice bike." Samus moved to follow Pasha into the gym, but Dervla smiled and shook her head. "Sorry, registered students only," she told him. "There are brochures by the door, and our next class starts in three weeks." Samus waved to Pasha and wished her good luck before heading eagerly to the door. Behind him, Pasha, wearing an excited grin, fastened the strap on her motorcycle helmet and prepared to take her first ride.
