how did owning large amounts of land affect the roman catholic church
Answer:
It depends on the time period.
Explanation:
Of the time periods I can think of:
Pre-Martin Luther- This would have benefitted the Roman Catholic Church because at the time they were the main governing body along side the Roman Emperor. This land would have added to their prestige and they had another means of revenue to raise money for the church and give their staff (bishops, pope, etc.) a big pay out.
Martin Luther's 95 thesis- The large amounts of land and revenue that the land is generating for the Catholic church will be detrimental to it's image when Martin Luther calls them out on their greediness. He warns against the Church taking money on indulgences and being greedy with what they own, so the large amounts of land will reflect poorly on them, especially because they could have helped the poor instead of renting the land out.
Compare and Contrast the positions of Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas during the 1858 Senate race.
Abraham Lincoln opposed the expansion of slavery and Stephen Douglas supported popular sovereignty.
Explanation:
Stephen Douglas favoured popular sovereignty, whereas Abraham Lincoln opposed the spread of slavery.
What is popular sovereignty?A principle of political philosophy that holds that the people elect their representatives and are ultimately accountable to them. A pre-Civil War theory that said a territory's citizens had the right to decide whether or not slavery would be permitted there by vote of their territorial assembly.
Popular sovereignty holds that the People must agree for the government to take action. Popular sovereignty therefore LIMITS governmental authority.
In a democracy, the populace only grants the government the authority required to carry out the constitutionally specified purposes.
Thus, Stephen Douglas favoured popular sovereignty.

Capitalism is built on the principle of ownership
Answer:
it's private
Explanation:
Looked it up and found it on quizlet
Ownership is a fundamental principle of capitalism. In a capitalist system, individuals and businesses have the right to own and control property, including land, natural resources, and capital goods such as factories and machines.
What is the main principle of capitalism? Many people think of capitalism as an economic system in which private individuals own and control property according to their own interests, and where supply and demand freely determine market prices in a way that can best serve the needs of society. Profit-making is the primary driving force behind capitalism.
This means they are free to use their property in whatever way they choose, including producing goods and services for sale in the market, with the aim of making a profit. The right to private property is seen as a key incentive for individuals to work hard, innovate and invest, and thus promote economic growth and prosperity.

In one paragraph, explain how American patriotism inspired the Flying Tigers to act bravely and contribute to US military efforts. Include a brief history of the Flying Tigers. Support your response with evidence in the form of examples, details, and facts
Answer:
The Flying Tigers was the first American volunteer group to work for the Chinese Air Force during 1941 and 1942. There were American pilots from the United States Army Air Corps, Navy and Marine Corps, and their commander was Lee Chennault whom under Presidential Authority, recruited and commanded the group.
The group was set to train in Burma before America´s official entry into World War II. They were formed by Three fighting squadrons and each one had about 30 airplanes. The principal mission for the Flying Tigers was to defend China against the Japanese forces, and stop their advance into China´s territory. All of the volunteers of the group were officially integrated into the Chinese Air Force. Some of the members of the group were civilians but mainly the recruits came from the Us military.
All members of the group had contracts paying them from $250 for an airplane mechanic to $600 for a pilot and about $750 for a commander. Also, they were paid $500 extra for every Japanese plain they destroyed. The overall pay was an excellent incentive, since it was more than three times what they were making in the US military.
The first combat mission for the group came on December 20th 1941, exactly 12 days after the attack of Pearl Harbor. The group gained notoriety by showing new and innovative tactical victories to defeat the Japanese pilots. When most of the news in America was about defeats caused by the Japanese, they were the starts and gave a lot of hope that the US will soon defeat the Japanese. During its missions the group downed 291 enemy aircraft while only suffering 14 pilot losses.
