Which statement best suggests how to choose a fictional text?
O Choose only the fictional texts assigned by a teacher because they know all the best ones.
O Choose a fictional text that has accurate facts and is written by an author you trust.
O Choose a fictional text that is challenging and has interesting characters.
O Choose the fictional text that is easiest for you to read so you can finish it quickly.

Answers

Answer:

O Choose a fictional text that is challenging and has interesting characters.

Explanation:

A fictional text that is challenging and has interesting characters is more likely to motivate the reader into the story, making it easier to remember.

Ideally it is not possible for a fictional text to have accurate facts since just as the name, it is based on fiction (imagination), and been the easiest doesn't necessarily mean it will be interesting.

LITERARY TEXT
“The Leak,” Jacques Futrelle
Read this passage from “The Leak” by Jacques Futrelle. Then, answer the question(s).
(1) The financier drew a long breath. “I have been informed that you were a remarkable man,” he said at last slowly. “I believe it. Quinton Frazier, the banker who gave me the letter of introduction to you, told me how you once solved a remarkable mystery in which—”
(2) “Yes, yes,” interrupted the scientist shortly, “the Ralston Bank burglary—I remember.”
(3) “So I came to you to enlist your aid in something which is more inexplicable than that.... Briefly, there is a leak in my office. My plans become known to others almost by the time I have perfected them. My plans are large; I have millions at stake; and the greatest secrecy is absolutely essential. For years I have been able to preserve this secrecy; but half a dozen times in the last eight weeks my plans have become known, and I have been caught. Unless you know the Street, you can’t imagine what a tremendous disadvantage it is to have someone know your next move to the minutest detail and, knowing it, defeat you at every turn.”
(4) “No, I don’t know your world of finance, Mr. Grayson,” remarked The Thinking Machine. “Give me an instance.”
(5) “Well, take this last case,” said the financier earnestly. “Briefly, without technicalities, I had planned to unload the securities of the P., Q. & X. Railway, protecting myself through brokers, and force the outstanding stock down to a price where other brokers, acting for me, could buy far below the actual value. In this way I intended to get complete control of the stock. But my plans became known, and when I began to unload everything was snapped up by the opposition, with the result that instead of gaining control of the road I lost heavily. This same thing has happened, with variations, half a dozen times.”
(6) “I presume that is strictly honest?” inquired the scientist mildly.
(7) “Honest?” replied Grayson. “Certainly—of course.”

What do these lines suggest about the narrator? He is disappointed that his gifts are not appreciated. He wishes he had not given away his favorite coat. He worries that his employees are suffering. He feels that people should be content with what they have.

Answers

This question is missing the excerpt. I've found the complete question online. It is as follows:

Read the following passage and answer the question.

I verily believe that buttoning himself up in so downy and blanket – like a coat had a pernicious effect upon him; upon the same principle that too much oats are bad for horses. In fact, precisely as a rash, restive horse is said to feel his oats, so Turkey felt his coat. It made him insolent. He was a man whom prosperity harmed.

What do these lines suggest about the narrator?

a) He is disappointed that his gifts are not appreciated.

b) He wishes he had not given away his favorite coat.

c) He worries that his employees are suffering.

d) He feels that people should be content with what they have.

Answer:

These lines suggest:

d) He feels that people should be content with what they have.

Explanation:

In the passage we are analyzing, the narrator is visibly criticizing someone for "feeling his coat," making a pun out of the expression "to feel his oats." The person he is criticizing changed while wearing what seems to be a fancy coat. This transformation is disappointing to the narrator. It shows that that person is probably greedy. Instead of being happy with what he has, Turkey seems to want more and, when he does get some more, he changes, becomes "insolent". That is clearly something that bothers the narrator.

Have.

Explanation:

How to use Have

Have is the conjugation of to have that’s used when:

speaking in the first person (I, we)

speaking in the second person (you)

speaking in the third person plural (they)

Take, for example, the following sentence: “They have two dogs.” Here, have is the correct choice because the subject (they) is a third person plural pronoun.

How to use has

Has is the conjugation of to have that’s used when:

speaking in the third person singular (he, she, and it).

This example from And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini shows has used with a third person singular pronoun (he): “He has a slender nose, a narrow mouth, and tight blond curls.”

Bear in mind, this use of have and has only really applies when you’re speaking in the present tense (describing events that are currently happening.)

Dear Editor,

Lately, our neighborhood has become extremely noisy. This has occurred because a mall is being constructed close to the residential quarters, and the construction activities have filled our streets with noise and smoke. For several hours each day, huge trucks line up the streets to deliver construction material. This has caused the streets to be overcrowded, resulting in traffic jams. The constant traffic jams and construction have not only caused noise pollution but have also increased air pollution. This situation is causing damage to the health of the people. It particularly affects the sleep quality and overall health of adults as well as kids.
The increase in noise and air pollution is a big threat to the health of the people. I would like to urge the city authorities to rethink their decision to build a mall in such a locality. Once the mall is ready, the traffic situation will only get worse. If city authorities do not cancel their plans, they should at least install noise-blocking boards around all houses to reduce the problem of noise pollution.

Sincerely,
Valencia Woods

We stayed only one day at the hotel, long enough for me to become acquainted with the bathtub, located in another closet next to the toilet. 2. What makes Scout realize that the man who rescued her and Jem is Boo Radley? Summarize her

description of him. How is his actual appearance similar to what the children imagined him to look like? How

is it different?

hp

Answers

Answer:

Scout realizes that the man that rescued her and Jem is Boo Radley because after the attack, she sees someone carrying Jem back to her house and when she returns home she sees her father, aunt Alexandra, a doctor and an unknown man who she later discovers is Boo Radley who saves them from the attack.

Scout's description of Boo Radley was that his hands were white hands that had probably never felt the tan of sunlight. He was wearing a sand stained khaki short, looked frail, his face was as white as his hands, his cheeks were thin and his mouth wide.

The children Jem, Scout and Dill view Boo Radley as a totally horrible creature that commits unthinkable crimes and eats raw animals. The children based their view of Boo Radley because of gossip by other people and they really believed he dined on raw squirrels and cats.

In reality though, Boo Radley is nothing like what the children imagine him to be as he is later discovered to be a shy, tender-hearted and caring recluse.

This is from the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Scout understands that the man that safeguarded her and Jem is Boo Radley on the grounds that after the assault, she sees somebody conveying Jem back to her home and when she gets back she sees her dad, auntie Alexandra, a specialist and an obscure man who she later finds is Boo Radley who saves them from the assault.

Scout's depiction of Boo Radley was that his hands were white hands that had likely never felt the tan of daylight. He was wearing a sand stained khaki short, looked slight, his face was just about as white as his hands, his cheeks were dainty and his mouth wide.

The youngsters Jem, Scout and Dill view Boo Radley as an absolutely awful animal that carries out inconceivable wrongdoings and eats crude creatures. The youngsters based their perspective on Boo Radley due to talk by others and they truly accepted he feasted on crude squirrels and felines.

Truly however, Boo Radley is nothing similar to what the youngsters envision him to be as he is subsequently found to be a timid, compassionate and caring hermit.
